Country Risk Rating
Replicates the Basel AML Index methodology with 5 domains. Customizable domain weights (0–10, higher = more risk).
Scale: 1 (lowest risk) → 10 (highest risk). Min-max normalization applied across all jurisdictions. Source: Basel Institute on Governance
The Basel AML Index (Basel Institute on Governance) measures the risk of money laundering and terrorist financing in countries. Our Country Risk Rating replicates this approach adapted for Web3 contexts. Key methodology principles:
Derived from FATF Mutual Evaluation Reports (MER), FATF grey/black list status, and MONEYVAL assessments. Captures both technical compliance and effectiveness scores.
Based on Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) and Global Fraud Index. Inverted so higher corruption = higher AML risk score.
Drawn from the Financial Secrecy Index (FSI) by the Tax Justice Network and OECD open data indicators. Measures information-sharing obligations and beneficial ownership requirements.
World Bank Worldwide Governance Indicators: Government Effectiveness, Regulatory Quality, and Control of Corruption. Reflects institutional reliability.
Rule of Law index, Press Freedom Index, and political stability scores. High political instability correlates with elevated financial crime exposure.
Each domain score is normalised to 0–10. Weighted sum is computed, then min-max normalised across all jurisdictions. Final score: 1 = lowest risk, 10 = highest risk.
